Independence isn't a promise. It's a structure.
The charter would mean little without the machinery to enforce it. Four mechanisms make ANBF's independence real, auditable and durable — not dependent on the goodwill of whoever is in charge.
Independent Editorial Board
An independent board enforces the charter and can veto any commission that breaches it — above management.
Milestone-controlled funding
Support is released in tranches, only against audited milestones. No lump sum, no single point of leverage.
Full annual external audit
The books are opened every year to an independent external auditor and reported transparently.
No single sponsor
Diversified support by design, so no one funder can shape editorial or hold the Foundation hostage.
